- Client: Selecta
- Industry: Food Tech & Distribution
- Employees: 5,000 – 10,000
Summary of work
The scope of the project was to install a new cashless payment system on to 12,000 vending and hot beverage machines across the UK.
The Client
Selecta Group is a Food Tech company with a leading route-based, self-service distribution network in Europe, offering innovative convenience food services and world-class quality coffee brands in the workplace and public spaces. Serving premium coffee and beverages, snacks, and fresh meals to more than 10 million people in 16 countries across Europe every day.
Resource Required
- 5 deployment engineers carried out an average of 4-5 installs per day.
- Team of 4 build engineers (working alongside the main deployment) built an average of 895 units per week.
Our Approach
During an initial scoping meeting, Concept proposed a Managed Service that would fully support the Selecta team through the entire project. We provided a full range of services, including the building of the units, logistics, project management and coordination as well as the engineering resource.
Challenges
We overcame several challenges during the project to keep on track with the agreed deadline. Deployment caught up with the number of units that had been built, so an external partner was commissioned to bulk-build units and stay ahead of schedule.
Selecta’s schedule data was out-of-date and incomplete, which resulted in a high number of aborts. We worked closely with them to ensure that all the data collected from the engineers was fed back into their overall system, which would help future projects and avoid unnecessary aborts.
The Outcome
The project lasted nine months from initial planning to sign off. The project was delivered on time. Selecta were pleased with the outcome and resulted in Concept being awarded a follow-up project.
